Two centres

To enable you to explore a wider area of the Hautes Pyrénées we can now offer holidays using two centres. As well as visiting the area around Bagnères de Bigorre, see Classic , we also spend three days around Luz St. Sauveur. This includes a visit to the World Heritage site of Gavarnie.

Accommodation

Days 1 -4. At the Hostellerie d'Asté. See Classic for details.

Days 5 -7. Luz St. Sauveur. We have been using the Hotel de Londres since 2005 and it is a friendly family run two star hotel in the centre of the interesting & historical town. We have negotiated an enhanced half board with fruit and cereal available in addition to the "continental" breakfast. Coffee served after the meal is included in the holiday price. The hotel has 30 rooms all with WC and shower or bath. There is a comfortable bar area next to the spacious restaurant. There are several shops in the town where food can be bought for lunches.

Itinerary

Day 1. Travel by coach from the airport to the hotel at Asté with a stroll in the afternoon if there is time.

Days 2 - 4. Guided walks in the area around Bagnères de Bigorre available every day.

Day 5. Coach from Asté to the Bastan valley and a day walk into the town of Luz St. Sauveur. You will only need a daypack as the luggage will be transferred between hotels.

Days 6 & 7. Two day walks including one into the Cirque de Gavarnie where the limestone cliffs reach up to over 3000 metres.

Day 8. Travel by coach to the airport.

As usual, the cost of daily transport is included in the holiday price and the walks will be tailored to suit the abilities of the group.
